Antofalla is a remote volcanic massif in Catamarca Province in northwestern Argentina, forming part of the high Andean plateau. It is a large volcanic complex that dominates the surrounding altiplano landscape.
The area is characterised by volcanic cones, lava flows and saline depressions typical of Andean volcanic zones. The massif is visited mainly by mountaineers and geological parties rather than casual tourists because of its altitude and remote location.
Volcanic activity that formed the massif took place in the geological past and left the present high-elevation volcanic landforms. The site has been studied for its volcanic history and regional geology.
