Amt Unterspreewald

Amt Unterspreewald is a collective municipal administration (Amt) in the Dahme-Spreewald district of Brandenburg, Germany, covering several small towns and villages in the Unterspreewald or lower Spreewald area. The territory lies within the characteristic Spreewald wetland landscape.

The Spreewald landscape has been settled and managed for centuries, with local municipalities cooperating administratively through the Amt structure to provide shared services. Traditional land uses such as fishing, reed cutting and river transport shaped settlement patterns and continue alongside conservation efforts.

The Amt lies southeast of Berlin in Brandenburg, within the broader Spreewald region. The landscape is low-lying and marshy, centred on the Spree River’s branching channels and accessible by road from nearby regional centres.
