Amsa-dong is a neighbourhood in eastern Seoul best known for the Amsa Prehistoric Settlement, an archaeological site showcasing Korea’s Neolithic past. The site and its museum display remains and reconstructions from prehistoric habitation in the area.
Archaeological excavations at Amsa-dong uncovered Neolithic-era habitation layers, including pottery and pit-house foundations, demonstrating that the site was occupied thousands of years ago during Korea’s prehistoric period. The site has been preserved and interpreted for public education and research.
Amsa-dong sits in the eastern part of Seoul along river lowlands, within commuting distance of central Seoul. It is served directly by public transport and is part of the city’s suburban residential and parkland zone.

How to Get to Amsa-dong #
From central Seoul take Subway Line 8 to Amsa Station. Use Exit 2 and follow signs toward the Amsa-dong Prehistoric Settlement Site - the walk is roughly 10-15 minutes from the station. Bus connections and taxis also serve the Gangdong-gu area.
