Ambo is most easily reached by road from Addis Ababa, the country's principal airport. Scheduled domestic air service to Ambo is limited, so minibuses and private cars are the standard ways to travel between Ambo and the capital.

By Air

Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa (ADD): Addis Ababa is the main international gateway to Ethiopia. From Addis to Ambo by road is typically 2-3 hours (roughly 100-120 km) depending on traffic; private transfers or taxis from Addis usually cost approximately ETB 1,000-2,500 for a private car.

Ambo Airport (local / domestic): Ambo has a small airstrip/airport used occasionally for regional flights and charter services. Scheduled commercial flights are limited - most travellers use Addis Ababa and continue overland.

By Train & Bus
