Algonquin Provincial Park is a large provincial park in central Ontario, Canada, established in 1893 and widely used for recreation, forestry research and wilderness conservation. It is one of Ontario’s oldest and most-visited parks, known for its mixed forest, lakes and extensive canoe country.

The park offers marked trails, campgrounds and hundreds of lakes connected by portages that support shared-use canoe trips and backcountry camping. Wildlife viewing, particularly moose and birding, is a common reason for visitors to come, alongside fishing and hiking.

Over its history the park has balanced conservation, recreation and research roles, with infrastructure developed for public access while protecting significant natural areas. Ongoing management addresses visitor use, habitat protection and cultural heritage within the park.

Algonquin Provincial Park lies between the Ottawa and Georgian Bay watersheds in central Ontario, roughly 150 to 250 kilometres north of Toronto depending on the access point, and is bordered by a mix of forested hills and lakes.
