Albertina

The Albertina is an art museum in central Vienna housed in a former Habsburg palace near the Hofburg. It is particularly renowned for its extensive graphic arts collection and for staging major temporary exhibitions of painting and photography.

The museum’s permanent holdings include one of the world’s largest collections of prints and drawings, and the display spaces combine historic state apartments with contemporary galleries. Visitors can see large-scale temporary exhibitions as well as the museum’s core graphic collection.

The collection grew from private princely holdings and was later integrated into state and public museum structures. The building has undergone restorations and modern gallery installations to accommodate both the historical interiors and new exhibition needs.

The Albertina sits on the inner-city side of the Ringstrasse close to the Hofburg palace complex and is a short walk from many central Vienna landmarks.
