The building contains offices, retail spaces and hospitality facilities, with a distinctive spherical glass pod near the summit that accommodates a public restaurant and viewing area. The tower is one of the taller structures in the city and is widely recognized for its silhouette.
Construction took place in the late 1990s and around the turn of the 21st century, with the tower opening to commercial use around 2000. It has since formed part of the commercial and business district of Riyadh.
