Ajmer Sharif Dargah

Ajmer Sharif Dargah is the principal Sufi shrine in the city of Ajmer, Rajasthan, centered on the tomb of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. It is one of the subcontinent’s most important Sufi pilgrimage sites and draws devotees nationwide.

The complex includes the saint’s mausoleum under a central dome, surrounding courtyards for congregational prayer, and ancillary buildings that support large numbers of visitors. Pilgrims come to offer prayers, lay chadar cloths, and seek blessings.

The shrine developed over several centuries with endowments and additions by various rulers and patrons, evolving into the large complex seen today. It functions continuously as a religious centre with daily rituals as well as major annual observances.

Located in the historic core of Ajmer city in Rajasthan, the dargah sits within walking distance of Ajmer Railway Station and the old town. The site is urban and centrally positioned within Ajmer’s pilgrimage infrastructure.
