How to Get to Ahtopol
Ahtopol is best reached by road from Burgas Airport or by intercity bus. There is no rail line to the town, so buses, taxis or a rental car are the realistic options for reaching the southern Black Sea coast.
Burgas Airport (BOJ): Burgas is the nearest major airport for Ahtopol on Bulgaria’s southern Black Sea coast. By road Burgas→Ahtopol is about 80-100 km depending on route and takes around 1.5-2 hours by car. Bus transfers from Burgas to Ahtopol (via Tsarevo or Malko Tarnovo depending on route) are available; expect fares roughly BGN 6-12 (≈€3-€6) and journey times around 1.5-2 hours.
Varna Airport (VAR): Varna is further north and involves a longer drive (2-3 hours); it’s an option if flight schedules are better.
Train: There is no direct heavy rail access to Ahtopol; the Bulgarian rail network does not reach this stretch of coast.
