Zhijin Cave Travel Guide

Located in southwestern Zhijin, Zhijin Cave is a popular and interesting attraction that is truly spectacular with over seven miles of underground tunnels.

Zhijin Cave is the largest cave in China and one of the largest in the world. Extending for over six miles inside and reaching heights of almost 500 feet, the cave is truly spectacular. Inside there are calcium deposits, which form beautiful and amazing spirals and shapes.

Walking through the cave is akin to walking in a grand palace, the stunning karst formations and rarely found curlestone are impressive. Yingbin Ting is at the mouth of the cave and is open at the top, which allows sunlight to penetrate the hall also allowing moss to grow.

Entry to Zhijin Cave includes a guided tour, which takes around two and a half hours. Groups of ten are taken through and you will need to wait until ten people are ready to go. You will be glad to have a guide once embarking on the labyrinth of maze like tunnels and passageways.

Getting There & Away

Frequent buses depart from Anshun, which take around 3 hours to the caves. Anshun is home to a regional airport with regular flights to a wide selection of neighboring cities. Beijing to Anshun takes approximately an hour by air. It is also possible to take a train to Anshun from Beijing and other regional cities.
