White Beach Travel Guide

White Beach is a popular seaside resort destination on the western coast of Cebu Island. It is located just outside the quaint town of Moalboal, a famous center for scuba diving.

Of the two main beaches in Moalboal, White Beach has the better sand and calmer waters. There are several resorts situated right on the beach, along with a good range of restaurants and mellow bars. Although Moalboal has been a major tourism destination since the 1970s, the area retains a laid-back vibe. Mass tourism seems to focus more on the other side of Cebu, at Mactan Island.

Most people who come to White Beach are here for the scuba diving in the area. There is a wonderful healthy reef right off the beach that can easily be accessed without a boat. This makes White Beach popular with casual snorkellers.

But within a 25-minute boat ride, there are a dozen or more excellent scuba diving sites ranked among the best in the Philippines. One site not to miss is the beautiful Pescador Island, a great day trip for quiet beaches and sublime underwater scenery.

Getting there

Most visitors to White Beach fly into Mactan-Cebu International Airport, located across the island, near Cebu City. Numerous flights arrive daily from Manila, taking just an hour to reach Cebu. From the airport or Cebu City it is easy to catch a bus to Moalboal and White Beach. The road trip takes less than 3 hours.
