Alona Beach Travel Guide

One of the Philippines‘ leading attractions, Alona Beach is the most coveted stretch of white sand in Bohol. This beach on Panglao Island is backed by a row of palm trees and plays host to a well-developed resort community.

Snorkeling is a leading activity here, and swimmers don’t have to stray far from the shore to discover a range of colorful fish and coral reefs. On the whole, Bohol is one of the leading diving destinations for the Philippines, and Alona Beach boasts several dive shops where tourists can rent equipment or enroll in certification courses.

Serious divers can plan all-day or even multi-day excursions to reefs off the coast of Panglao. Fishing trips can also be arranged onboard chartered boats. Other water-based activities include sightseeing cruises, sea kayaking and jet skiing.

The infrastructure at Alona Beach is what makes the area so popular. Resorts, bungalows and hotels for every budget and are found within walking distance of the nearly half-mile beach.

Getting There & Away

Where it sits in the little town of Panglao, Alona Beach is 12 miles from the nearest airport in Tagbilaran City, but it can take as long as 35 minutes to travel to and from the airport. From Tagilaran City it takes 1 hour, 30 minutes to reach Manila by air.
