Zuojiang Huashan Rock Art

Zuojiang Huashan Rock Art is a set of cliff paintings on limestone along the Zuojiang River in Guangxi, China, recognised for their large-scale panels and long cultural sequence. The site is an important record of ritual imagery in southern China.

Visitors encounter extensive painted panels on river-facing cliffs that depict human figures, animals, boats and symbols; the paintings are spaced along several stretches of riverbank and are visible from boats or from paths above the cliffs. The scale and concentration of images make the site one of the most significant rock-art complexes in the region.

The paintings were produced by prehistoric and early historic communities over an extended period and are interpreted as linked to local ritual and funerary practices. Archaeologists and heritage specialists have studied the pigments and motifs to help date and contextualise the imagery.
