Zrebar Lake

Zrebar Lake (also spelled Zeribar) is a freshwater lake in Iran’s Kurdistan province, situated near the city of Marivan and surrounded by hills. It is one of the more prominent lakes in the region and is used for local recreation and scenic lakeside visits.

The shoreline has promenades, small boats and informal recreational facilities; the lake’s open water and reed margins support waterfowl and wetland vegetation typical of the area. Visitors commonly walk the shore, take short boat trips and use lakeside cafés and picnic areas.

The lake has functioned as a local natural and recreational resource for nearby towns and villages; it is managed at the provincial level for tourism and conservation of its freshwater environment.

Geographically the lake lies in western Iran’s Zagros foothills within Kurdistan province, close to the urban area of Marivan and surrounded by low mountains and agricultural land.
