How to Get to Zlatar Lake #
The lake is reached by regional roads from Prijepolje and Nova Varoš. From Prijepolje follow the R-311/R-302 toward Nova Varoš and then local signs for Zlatar; the drive is roughly 30-45 minutes depending on the exact shore access point. There is limited public transport-look for local minibuses (maršrutka) that serve the surrounding villages in summer.
Tips for Visiting Zlatar Lake #
- Visit in late afternoon to catch the light slanting across the water-photographers favor the west shore near the dam.
- Bring a picnic and insect repellent; there are basic shelters but few services around the lake.
- If hiking, wear boots-paths can be muddy after rain and some trails are steep and poorly signed.
