Zhoushan Qundao

Zhoushan Qundao refers to the Zhoushan Archipelago off the coast of Zhejiang Province in eastern China, an extensive group of islands that forms the administrative area of Zhoushan city. It is one of China’s largest archipelagos and includes many inhabited fishing islands as well as smaller uninhabited islets.

The islands support a mix of fishing ports, shipbuilding and tourism, and several islands are developed as weekend and holiday destinations. Religious tourism is centered on Mount Putuo on Putuo Island, a major Buddhist pilgrimage site with multiple temples and monastic complexes.

The archipelago has long been a maritime region with a fishing and shipping economy and remains a key coastal node for Zhejiang Province. Modern ferry services and ports connect the islands with Ningbo and other coastal cities.

The Zhoushan Archipelago lies in the East China Sea off the Zhejiang coast, east of Ningbo and within reach of the Shanghai metropolitan area by ferry and road-plus-bridge connections.
