Zbraslav Monastery is a historic Cistercian abbey at Zbraslav, now part of Prague’s southern suburbs, founded in 1292 by King Wenceslaus II. It became an important royal foundation and served as a dynastic burial site.
The complex’s core is the abbey church, which contains funerary monuments and played a ceremonial role in medieval Bohemia; surrounding monastic buildings display Gothic origins with later Baroque alterations. Over the centuries the monastery’s role changed with secularisation and local administrative use, but the site retains its historic fabric and monuments.
