How to Get to Zabriskie Point
Zabriskie Point is inside Death Valley National Park and is reached by car via CA‑190 (Badwater Road) within the park. There is a paved parking area immediately adjacent to the viewpoint; the short paved trail from the parking area to the overlook is only a few hundred metres (a 5-10 minute walk). From the Furnace Creek area it is a short drive into the viewpoint (roughly a 10-20 minute drive depending on exact start point in the park).
Tips for Visiting Zabriskie Point
- Go at sunrise (or just before) for the best light on the badlands and to avoid the mid‑day crowds and heat - parking is smallest at the overlook so early arrival helps.
- Use the official Zabriskie Point turnout off Badwater Road; the paved path from the lot leads directly to the main viewpoint, and from there you can continue on the Badlands Loop/Manly Beacon routes to escape the crowds.
- Avoid visiting in the height of summer midday when temperatures can become extreme; if you want a longer, quieter hike, head into Golden Canyon or Badlands Loop rather than staying at the main overlook.
