Yushan National Park (Yushan Guojia Gongyuan) is a national park in Taiwan centered on Yushan, also known as Jade Mountain. The park protects high-elevation ecosystems and the island’s tallest mountain.
The park is known for alpine landscapes, high-mountain trails and a range of habitats from subtropical forests to alpine scrub; Yushan itself rises to 3,952 metres and is a major destination for hikers. Trails, mountain huts and viewing points provide access for day hikes and multi-day climbs.
The park was established in 1985 to protect the central mountain range, its biodiversity and cultural sites, and to provide regulated access for recreation and scientific study.
The park lies in the central mountain range of Taiwan, occupying high-elevation terrain in the island’s interior and is commonly accessed from towns and transport hubs on the western side of the range.

Buses and tour operators run from Chiayi and Taichung; private car access and parking are available at designated trailhead lots. Permits and hut reservations are recommended in advance.
