Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve is a U.S. National Preserve in interior Alaska that protects portions of the Yukon River and the Charley River and their surrounding landscapes. It is administered by the National Park Service and conserves river corridors, riparian habitats, and historic gold-rush-era sites.

Recreational highlights include multi-day river trips, wildlife viewing, subsistence and cultural sites, and backcountry camping along largely undeveloped river corridors. The preserve is noted for its remote, mostly roadless character and opportunities for river navigation, fishing, and solitude.

The area contains archaeological and historic resources related to Indigenous use and later placer-mining and steamboat activity along the Yukon. Management emphasizes both cultural resource protection and recreation in a largely wild setting.

The preserve lies in east-central Alaska along stretches of the Yukon River and the Charley River. Small communities and river landings serve as local access points; the town of Eagle is commonly used as a gateway into the preserve.

  • Cultural and natural values: The preserve protects long stretches of the Yukon and Charley river corridors and contains historic placer-mining and river-transportation sites from the gold rush era.
  • Access: Much of the area is roadless and remote; primary access for river travel is by boat or floatplane, and the nearby community of Eagle serves as a common gateway for visitors.
