Yoronjima, also called Yoron, is an island in Kagoshima Prefecture belonging to the Amami island group of southwest Japan. The island is noted for its sandy beaches, coral reefs and subtropical vegetation.
Beaches and nearshore reefs make the island a destination for swimming, snorkeling and short coastal excursions. Local culture reflects Ryukyuan influences and there are small settlements, guesthouses and beaches distributed around the island.
Yoronjima lies in the East China Sea between the larger islands of Kyushu and Okinawa, and is administratively part of Kagoshima Prefecture.
