About Yorkville

Yorkville is a former village that developed as a separate community in 1830 and was annexed into the City of Toronto in 1883. Today it sits within the broader Annex area and is roughly bounded by Bloor Street to the south, Davenport Road to the north, Yonge Street to the east and Avenue Road to the west.

The neighbourhood is best known for its concentration of retail shopping and offices around Bloor Street, alongside upscale hotels and dining. Away from the main arteries you will find calmer residential streets that contrast with the busier commercial blocks.

Yorkville’s character is that of an inner city district built for walking, with short blocks and plenty of window shopping opportunities. It is a convenient base for combining shopping with nearby museums and attractions in central Toronto.
