Yokohama Landmark Tower
Building Tall Yokohama skyscraper with observation deck and offices
Yokohama Landmark Tower anchors Minato Mirai with offices, a hotel and an observation deck offering panoramic views over Yokohama and Tokyo Bay from high floors.
Yokohama Landmark Tower is a major skyscraper in the Minato Mirai 21 district of Yokohama, Japan, rising to about 296 metres with 70 floors. It was completed in 1993 and formed a focal point for the city’s waterfront redevelopment.
The building combines offices, retail space and a large hotel; the Sky Garden observatory near the top offers panoramic views over Yokohama and Tokyo Bay from roughly 273 metres above ground. The building is integrated with adjacent shopping and transport links in Minato Mirai.
Constructed as part of the Minato Mirai redevelopment, the tower helped establish the area as Yokohama’s commercial and tourist centre during the early 1990s. It remained one of Japan’s tallest buildings for decades after completion.
The tower stands in central Yokohama’s Minato Mirai waterfront district, within walking distance of Sakuragicho and other major transport nodes, and forms a landmark visible across the bay.

Tips for Visiting Yokohama Landmark Tower #
- Visit the Landmark Tower's observation deck (Sky Garden) around sunset - you get daytime views, the sunset glow over Tokyo Bay, and early-night city lights; on very clear days you can see Mt. Fuji from the higher floors.
- Use the Minatomirai Line (Minatomirai Station) or JR Sakuragicho Station for the most direct access into Landmark Plaza rather than trying to park; follow signs from the station to the Landmark Plaza/Tower entrances to avoid long indoor walks.
- To avoid the biggest crowds, go on a weekday morning or a late-evening weekday; weekends and holiday evenings draw large numbers of visitors and shoppers in the complex.
- Many visitors skip the surrounding Minato Mirai waterfront - step outside toward the Red Brick Warehouse and Cosmo Clock Ferris wheel for complementary waterfront views and photo angles of the tower.
