Yamashita Park is a waterfront public park in central Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, facing Yokohama Bay. The park was created in the early 20th century and is a prominent riverside promenade and green space in the city’s port district.
Paths and lawns along the waterfront provide views of the harbour, landscaped areas and several memorials. The park is adjacent to the port and to urban amenities including the nearby Chinatown district.
A notable feature is the historic ocean liner Hikawa Maru, which is moored nearby and operates as a museum ship. The park has been maintained as a civic open space since its creation and forms part of Yokohama’s waterfront redevelopment.
Yamashita Park sits on reclaimed land along the northern shore of Yokohama Bay, within walking distance of Yokohama Station and a short journey south of central Tokyo.
