The Xueshan Range is a major mountain chain in north-central Taiwan dominated by the peak Xueshan, commonly called Snow Mountain. The range contains high, often rugged terrain with alpine vegetation at altitude and is a focus for mountain hiking and natural observation.
The range’s highest point, Xueshan (Snow Mountain), reaches about 3,886 meters and is Taiwan’s second-highest mountain. Trails and mountain huts give access to the main peak, and the area is used for seasonal hiking and mountaineering.
The Xueshan Range lies in north-central Taiwan and forms part of the island’s central mountain system, with access from several regional trailheads and national-park or reserve areas.

- Start from the high Wuling trailhead to reduce total ascent and spend at least a day acclimatizing before attempting the summit to lower altitude‑related risk.
