Xcaret

Xcaret is a privately operated eco-archaeological park on the Riviera Maya in Quintana Roo, Mexico, near Playa del Carmen. It integrates natural features such as underground rivers and coastal marine exhibits with cultural attractions focused on Mexican and Maya traditions.

The park contains swim-through caves and subterranean river channels used for recreational floating and swimming, a coral reef aquarium, and living-animal exhibits including a butterfly pavilion and aviary. There are also staged cultural shows, a reconstructed archaeological area and visitor facilities for day visitors.

Xcaret was developed as a commercial visitor attraction that blends conservation, recreation and cultural presentation; infrastructure and programming have expanded since its opening to include shows, guided experiences and marine exhibits.

Geographically it sits on the Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo, south of Cancún and close to the resort town of Playa del Carmen, within the broader tourist corridor known as the Riviera Maya.
