Wuzhen is a well-preserved historic water town in northern Zhejiang province, China, within Tongxiang city. It is known for its network of canals, stone bridges and buildings exhibiting Ming and Qing architectural styles.
The town comprises two main scenic areas-an eastern zone with museums and a historic streetscape and a western zone with restored residential lanes and hospitality facilities-connected by canals and pedestrian bridges. Typical highlights include narrow waterways, timber and brick houses, covered bridges and small museums that interpret local crafts and daily life.
Wuzhen has a long urban history and has been developed in recent decades as a cultural tourism destination with restored streets, museums and festivals, including an international theatre festival held in the town. It sits in the lowland riverine landscape of northern Zhejiang, roughly between the larger cities of Hangzhou and Suzhou in eastern China.

How to Get to Wuzhen #
Wuzhen is about 120 km southwest of Shanghai and 20-30 km from Hangzhou and Suzhou. Regular buses run from Shanghai South Bus Station and Hongqiao; high-speed trains to Tongxiang followed by a short taxi or shuttle bus are convenient. There are also direct tourist buses from Shanghai and Hangzhou.
