World’s End is a roughly 251-acre coastal peninsula park in Hingham, Massachusetts, preserved for public recreation and scenic viewing.

The property was acquired for permanent preservation in the mid-20th century and is managed to retain its open-landscape character rather than being developed. Over time the site has been maintained with a focus on public access and habitat conservation.

The park projects into Hingham Bay on the South Shore of Massachusetts, in the town of Hingham, roughly a dozen miles south of central Boston. It is accessed from roadways serving the Hingham peninsula.

• Best viewing times: Known for clear sightlines to the Boston skyline on the horizon; weather and light at sunrise or sunset give the best long-distance views.

What to See#

• Carriage roads and trails: A network of historic carriage roads and footpaths laid across the peninsula, used for walking, running, and cycling; routes link meadow edges with coastal viewpoints.
• Meadows and viewpoints: Open meadows and field edges that provide unobstructed views toward Boston and over Hingham Bay, popular for birdwatching and photography.
• Coastal bluffs and shoreline: Rocky shoreline and small coves along the peninsula offering close-up views of the sea and intertidal habitat; shore sections are informal walking areas rather than developed beaches.

From Boston, drive south on I‑93 to Route 3, take Exit 13 for Derby Street/Route 3A toward Hingham. Continue on Route 3A to World’s End Road; the Trustees’ small parking area and kiosk are on the right. From downtown Hingham it’s a short drive (or a 20-30 minute bicycle ride). There is limited public transit; consult The Trustees website for seasonal shuttle information.

• Arrive early on weekends to claim a parking spot at the small lot near the visitor kiosk.
• Walk the perimeter loop clockwise for the best opening view toward Boston Harbor at the far point.
• Bring binoculars in spring and fall for migrant songbirds that follow the exposed ridgelines.
• Respect the marked paths: the glacial bedrock is fragile in places and marked with rare lichens.
