Wigry National Park

Wigry National Park is a protected area in Podlaskie Voivodeship in north-eastern Poland centred on Lake Wigry and surrounding forested landscape. The park preserves lake ecosystems, mixed forest and peatland habitats typical of the region.

Water-based recreation on Lake Wigry, marked walking and cycling trails through pine and mixed forest, and opportunities to see wetland and forest wildlife. The park also contains cultural features such as the historic Camaldolese monastery on the lake shore.

The park was established to protect the unique combination of lakes and forests in this part of Podlaskie and is administered under Poland’s national park system. It lies near the town of Suwałki and is accessible by regional roads and local visitor centres.

Geographically Wigry National Park sits in north-eastern Poland, within the larger Masurian and Suwałki lake district landscape, and serves as a regional centre for nature-based recreation.
