White Hart Lane
Stadium Former Tottenham Hotspur football stadium in London
Associated with Tottenham Hotspur football, White Hart Lane draws fans on matchdays to nearby pubs and the club’s modern stadium on the same site; the area’s football heritage and atmosphere remain the main attractions.
White Hart Lane was the historic football stadium in Tottenham, north London, that served as the home ground of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club from 1899 until its closure and demolition in 2017. It was a long-standing local sporting landmark over more than a century of use.
The ground underwent numerous redevelopments during its lifetime and had a final seated capacity of around 36,000 spectators. For many decades it hosted domestic league and cup matches and was central to the club and local community.
After the stadium closed the site was redeveloped into a new, larger stadium on the same general site to serve as Tottenham Hotspur’s modern home. The original ground was located in the London Borough of Haringey, roughly seven miles north of central London.
