Stadium Historic London stadium built for 1908 Olympics

White City Stadium was the principal sports stadium built in White City, west London, for the 1908 Olympic Games. It became one of the city’s major early 20th-century sports venues.
After the Olympics the stadium continued to host athletics, exhibitions, and other public events, and later greyhound racing. The original stadium structure was dismantled and the site redeveloped in the late 20th century.
The venue was located in the White City area near Shepherd’s Bush and Wood Lane in west London and formed part of a larger exhibition and entertainment district established in the early 1900s. The site has since been repurposed for mixed commercial and residential development.
Today the White City name remains associated with the neighbourhood and new developments on the former stadium site.
- 1908 Olympics site: Built to host the 1908 London Olympics and subsequently used for athletics, exhibition events and greyhound racing before being demolished in 1985.
