By public transport: Wendelstein is served from the valley by the historic Wendelsteinbahn (rack railway) from Brannenburg; regional trains run from Munich to Brannenburg and from there you can reach the Wendelstein valley station a short taxi or bus ride away before ascending by mountain railway. There is also a cable car that serves Wendelstein from the Bayrischzell side.
By car: from Munich the mountain is roughly 70-90 km to the south/east and typically takes about 1-1.5 hours by car (depending on route and traffic); follow the motorways toward Rosenheim/Brannenburg or Bayrischzell and then local roads up to the valley stations.
