Spitzingsee Lake

Spitzingsee is an alpine lake in Bavaria, Germany, located in the Schliersee/Valley area of the Bavarian Alps. The lake sits in a mountain basin and is a local centre for hiking, mountain recreation and seasonal tourism.

Trails around the lake link to nearby peaks and alpine routes; the area is used for walking, swimming in summer and access to nearby ski and winter sport facilities in colder months. The lakeside settlement provides visitor facilities and trailheads.

Spitzingsee lies in Miesbach district in southern Bavaria, southeast of Munich, within the alpine landscape of the Bavarian Prealps.

By public transport take a regional train from Munich to Schliersee (Bayerische Oberlandbahn/other regional services) and continue by local bus or taxi up to Spitzingsee - the final bus stop is a short walk from the lake and trailheads.

• Walk the full lakeshore or take the short trails up toward Rotwand/Taubenstein for views most casual visitors miss; if you plan a lift-assisted route, check the valley station times in advance to avoid waits.
