How to Get to Vøringsfossen #
Vøringsfossen is located in the Måbødalen valley off Norwegian National Road 7 (Rv7) in the Hardanger/Eidfjord area. By car follow Rv7 (the Hardangervidda route) and follow signs for Vøringsfossen - there is a designated parking area and the main viewpoints are reached by a short walk from the car park.
The waterfall is served by regional coach services to Eidfjord; from Eidfjord a short taxi or local bus ride will bring you to the Vøringsfossen parking and viewpoints.
Tips for Visiting Vøringsfossen #
- Aim to visit Vøringsfossen early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the mid-day coach crowds that fill the main viewing platforms, and to get better light for photography of the gorge.
- Use the official parking and visitor-area paths to reach the main panoramic platforms; there is more than one viewpoint, so take the short walks to see both the top-drop perspective and the downstream gorge view.
- Check local road and weather conditions before traveling-mountain weather can change quickly, and some viewing paths or platforms may be restricted or icy outside the summer months.
