How to Get to Viñales

Viñales is typically reached from Havana by road; Viazul buses and private transfers serve the route. The rural valley is best explored by car, bicycle or on organised excursions from town.

By Air

José Martí International Airport (HAV): Havana is the main international gateway for visitors to Viñales. Road transfer time from Havana to Viñales is about 2.5-3.5 hours by car depending on route; private taxis cost significantly more than buses (expect USD 100-USD 170 one way). Shared transfers and car hires are common options.

Juan Gualberto Gómez Airport (VRA): Varadero’s airport is further east and typically not used for Viñales arrivals because the overland drive is longer (around 4-5 hours).

By Train & Bus

Train: Cuba’s passenger rail network is limited for tourism; trains are not a practical option to reach Viñales.

Bus: Viazul runs buses from Havana to Viñales (approx. 2.5-3 hours); fares are around USD 6-USD 12 depending on season and booking method. Private colectivos and shared taxis also operate from Havana and Pinar del Río for quicker door‑to‑door service-expect higher prices than Viazul.
