Tips for Visiting Villarrica National Park #
- If you intend to climb Volcán Villarrica, always hire an authorized mountain guide and book in advance through Pucón operators-Chilean authorities require licensed guides for summit attempts and the crater can be closed for volcanic activity.
- Start very early (pre-8am) for the best chance of clear views and calmer winds; afternoon weather in the southern Andes often brings cloud and stronger winds that limit visibility and make summit efforts unsafe.
- Avoid visiting in the peak Chilean summer (January-February) if you want fewer crowds; if you must go then, reserve guides, transport and any park permits well ahead through CONAF or local agencies.
