Varberg City
Coastal city in Halland, Sweden with beaches
A west-coast town, Varberg pulls beachgoers to Apelviken, surfers to its windswept dunes, and history buffs to Varberg Fortress overlooking the sea. Sample smoked herring, wander spa promenades, and watch ferries cross Kattegat.
Why Visit Varberg?#
On the Halland coast, Varberg is known for its seafaring and spa traditions that attract both families and surfers. Varberg Fortress watches over the harbor while the wooden Kallbadhuset and cold-water bathing culture at the promenade reflect long-standing wellness rituals; nearby Apelviken draws windsurfers and kiteboarders throughout the summer season. Seafood-especially smoked herring-and seaside cafés make the culinary side as appealing as the sunsets over the Kattegat.
