Vaalserberg is the highest point in the European part of the Netherlands, reaching 322.4 metres above sea level and forming a local high point on the Dutch-Belgian-German border. The site is a compact upland area popular for short walks and border tourism.

The summit area includes the marked Drielandenpunt where three national borders meet, a visitor plaza and an observation tower that gives views into neighbouring Belgium and Germany. Paths around the hill connect to the nearby town of Vaals and to regional walking routes.

The hill has been a local destination for border tourism and hiking and provides easy access from nearby towns and road networks. Land use around the summit combines small-scale forestry, pasture and recreational facilities.

Vaalserberg sits in the Dutch province of Limburg close to the town of Vaals and the city of Aachen across the German border; it is in the far southeast corner of the Netherlands.

It is most easily reached by car from nearby Aachen (Germany) - roughly 10 km - or from Maastricht (about 20 km), with local roads up to the summit and visitor parking. Regional buses and local services run to Vaals from Aachen and surrounding towns, from which the summit is a short walk or taxi ride.

• Go early on weekdays to avoid school groups and enjoy clearer views from the summit and observation tower across the three countries.
• Park at the Drielandenpunt visitor area and follow the marked trails to the tripoint monument - many visitors only see the obelisk and miss the surrounding walking routes and small exhibits.
• Combine the visit with short cross-border walks into Belgium and Germany from the marked paths - experiencing the three-country viewpoint on foot gives the best perspective.
