Universal Studios Japan in Osaka offers movie-themed rides, live shows and seasonal events, attracting families and pop-culture fans to its themed lands.
Universal Studios Japan (USJ) is a large film-themed amusement park on the waterfront of Osaka city, Japan. It opened in 2001 and combines thrill rides, shows and movie-based attractions across multiple themed zones.
Key attractions are organized into distinct themed areas such as Hollywood, New York, San Francisco, Jurassic Park, Minion Park, Universal Wonderland and a dedicated Wizarding World zone. The park layout concentrates major rides, live shows and dining within these zones and supports both day-time performances and seasonal nighttime events.
USJ was developed as a commercial theme park operated under licence from Universal Parks & Resorts and has grown into one of Japan’s highest-attendance parks through successive additions of new intellectual-property attractions and periodic large-scale events. The site is designed for full-day visits and offers a mix of family and thrill-oriented experiences.
The park is located on reclaimed land on Osaka Bay in the Konohana ward of Osaka city and is served by dedicated rail and road connections from central Osaka and surrounding urban areas.
