How to Get to Ubá
Ubá is best accessed by road from nearby regional airports (Zona da Mata) or by intercity bus from Juiz de Fora and Belo Horizonte. The town has no scheduled passenger rail service; buses are the practical public option.
Zona da Mata Regional Airport (IZA): The Zona da Mata/ Juiz de Fora airport is one of the nearest commercial airports serving eastern Minas Gerais. From IZA you can take a taxi or ride‑hail to Ubá (about 1-2 hours by road depending on route) for roughly R$120-R$250; alternatively, travel into Juiz de Fora city and take an intercity bus to Ubá (bus segment commonly R$20-R$50, ≈1-1.5 hours).
Tancredo Neves/Confins (CNF): Belo Horizonte’s Confins airport serves wider national and some international connections. From Confins, buses and coaches to Juiz de Fora or directly toward the Zona da Mata region are available; combined travel to Ubá usually takes 3-4+ hours and fares commonly land in the R$60-R$140 band depending on operators and route complexity.
Train: There is no regular passenger rail service to Ubá; freight lines exist in the state but do not offer scheduled passenger services.
Bus: Ubá’s rodoviária receives intercity coaches from Juiz de Fora, Muriaé and Belo Horizonte. Typical trips from Juiz de Fora take around an hour (R$20-R$50), while trips from Belo Horizonte or Rio are longer and cost correspondingly more.
