Zona da Mata Regional Airport (IZA): The closest commercial airport serving the Juiz de Fora area (Zona da Mata). From IZA you can take a taxi or ride-hail into Muriaé - expect about 2-2.5 hours by road and roughly R$200-R$350 depending on vehicle and driver; there are also intercity buses from Juiz de Fora city terminal that connect onward to Muriaé (typical bus segment ~R$30-R$60, 2-3 hours).
Tancredo Neves/Confins (CNF): Belo Horizonte’s main long‑haul airport is a practical option for more international or national connections. From Confins, direct intercity bus services or combinations (bus to Belo Horizonte bus terminal + long‑distance coach to Muriaé) take around 4-6 hours and usually cost R$80-R$160. A direct taxi or private transfer would be much more expensive (several hundred reais) and takes about 4 hours by road.
