Uashat is an Innu reserve in the Côte-Nord region of Quebec, Canada, and forms one part of the paired community commonly known as Uashat-Maliotenam. It is an Indigenous community of the Innu nation.
The reserve is a living community with cultural, administrative, and residential areas rather than a tourist attraction; visits should be undertaken respectfully and, where appropriate, with permission or guided arrangements. Local cultural events and community facilities reflect contemporary Innu life.
The community has long-standing Innu roots in the region and, in the 20th century, was organized administratively as a reserve under Canadian law; Uashat and Maliotenam are two neighbouring Innu communities that share cultural and family ties.
Situated on Quebec’s North Shore, Uashat sits immediately adjacent to the city of Sept-Îles on the Gulf of St. Lawrence, in the eastern part of the province.
