How to Get to Tunnel Arch #

From Moab, follow U.S. 191 north to the Arches National Park entrance (about 5-15 minutes north of town). Pay the park entrance fee at the station. Continue on Arches Scenic Drive to the Windows/Double Arch parking area (approx. 4-6 miles from the entrance). The short walk to Tunnel Arch is less than 0.5 mile on well-marked paths.

Tips for Visiting Tunnel Arch #

  • Visit the Windows/Double Arch area in the late afternoon to catch the light in the recesses of the arches and avoid midday heat.
  • Park at the Windows parking lot and follow the short, well-marked trail; bring sun protection-shade is scarce.
  • Stay on the trail: sandstone is fragile and off-trail walking accelerates erosion and is illegal in parts of the park.

Best visited in spring or fall for comfortable temperatures and lighter crowds. Summer is very hot; winter can be cold and sometimes snowy.
