How to Get to Tromøya #
Tromøya is the large island just off Arendal in Agder and is connected to the mainland by the Tromøy Bridge. By car follow the local roads from Arendal across the Tromøy Bridge onto the island; from Arendal town centre the drive is only a few minutes (a short distance).
Local buses from Arendal serve stops on Tromøya in the summer season and the island is also easily reached by taxi or bicycle from Arendal.
Tips for Visiting Tromøya #
- Cross to Tromøya using the Tromøy Bridge from Arendal to start exploring the island without relying on ferries or constrained parking.
- Visit in late spring through early autumn when coastal paths and small harbours are at their best and local cafés are open; weekdays are noticeably quieter than summer weekends.
- Head away from the main beaches toward the island's eastern shoreline and small harbors to find more peaceful walking routes and local fishing spots that many day visitors miss.
