Trinitatis Church

Trinitatis Church (Trinitatis Kirke) is a 17th-century church in central Copenhagen attached to the Round Tower complex. It was built as part of a combined complex serving religious, academic and astronomical functions.

The church interior reflects 17th and 18th-century ecclesiastical architecture and is visited in conjunction with the Round Tower and the historic university library spaces. The complex is compact and centrally located, so visits commonly include both the church interior and the tower ramp leading to the observatory.

Construction and patronage date to the reign of Christian IV and the complex was intended to serve Copenhagen’s university and town functions from the 17th century onward. Modifications and restorations have taken place over the centuries to maintain the church and tower.

The church stands in central Copenhagen adjoining the Round Tower, within walking distance of Nørreport and central university buildings. Its location places it in the historic core of the city.
