Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple is a major Hindu temple complex in the town of Trimbak in Nashik district, Maharashtra, celebrated as one of the twelve traditional Jyotirlinga shrines. The site is an important focal point for Shaiva worship and pilgrimage in western India.

The temple complex centers on a distinctive lingam that is associated in local tradition with three faces representing aspects of the divine. Pilgrims come for darshan, ritual offerings and to perform rites at the temple; the nearby hills and springs associated with the origin of the Godavari River are also part of the pilgrimage landscape.

The location has been venerated for many centuries and the temple complex reflects multiple phases of construction and renovation; it has functioned continuously as a pilgrimage site. The complex combines ritual spaces, ancillary shrines and facilities used by visiting devotees.

Trimbakeshwar sits in the foothills of the Western Ghats at Trimbak, in Nashik district of Maharashtra, near the hills traditionally identified as the source area of the Godavari River. The town and temple are inland from the Maharashtra coast and serve as the regional pilgrimage centre.

• Brahmagiri and Godavari source: Brahmagiri hill and the nearby spring area regarded as the source region of the Godavari River and used for ritual bathing by pilgrims.

The Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple is in the town of Trimbak, about 28-30 km from Nashik city centre. By road it’s roughly a 45-60 minute drive from Nashik along the local Trimbak road; Maharashtra State Transport runs regular buses from Nashik’s central bus stands to Trimbakeshwar.

On arrival the temple sits in the small town and is a short walk (a few hundred metres) from the local bus stand and from taxi/auto-rickshaw drop-off points.

• Arrive early in the morning to avoid the largest queues and the hottest part of the day - Trimbakeshwar is one of the six Jyotirlinga sites and draws heavy local pilgrim traffic, especially on Mondays and during Shravan and Mahashivratri.
• Allow time to visit the nearby Brahmagiri area and the Kushavarta (the traditional source of the Godavari) while you're there - many visitors focus only on the main shrine and miss these closely related sacred features.
• If you plan a special ritual (abhishek) ask at the temple office on arrival about the separate queues and booking procedure - ritual timings and procedures are structured and planning ahead avoids long waits or missed slots.
