The Trier Imperial Baths are the remains of a large Roman thermal complex in Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, dating to the late Roman Empire. They are among the major Roman archaeological sites in the city and illustrate the scale of public bathing architecture north of the Alps.

Visitors can see exposed masonry walls, foundations and remnants of the bath layout that indicate the complex’s original functions such as bathing halls, service rooms and heating installations. The site is interpreted for the public, often as part of broader explorations of Roman Trier.

The baths were constructed by Roman authorities for public and possibly imperial use in the later Roman period, and like other urban Roman complexes they fell into disuse and partial ruin in the early medieval centuries thereafter.

Located within the city of Trier, the ruins lie close to other Roman monuments and museums that together form the historic Roman core of the town.

• Combine the Imperial Baths (Kaiserthermen) with a visit to nearby Roman sites in Trier (Porta Nigra and the Rheinisches Landesmuseum) in a single morning to make the most of interpretive context and avoid afternoon tour-boat crowds.
• Visit on weekday mornings when cruise-ship day trips are less likely to swell numbers in the city centre; the ruins are close together and easiest to appreciate before large guided groups arrive.
• Take a few minutes to read the on-site panels or pick up a local leaflet - understanding the original scale and heating systems enhances the experience and many visitors hurry past without that context.
