Mapping Megan
An adventure travel blog offering practical guides and inspiration from 100+ countries.
About Mapping Megan
Mapping Megan is run by Australian journalist Megan Claire Jerrard and wildlife photojournalist Michael Jerrard. Megan has been travelling since 2007 and has visited more than 100 countries across all seven continents, while Mike brings decades of wildlife field experience and photojournalism. The site has grown into a large archive, with more than 2,900 posts since 2011, focused on adventure, cultural immersion and responsible ecotourism. Mapping Megan publishes practical, experience-led guides and stories to help readers plan similar journeys, and many posts are illustrated with original photography and nature-focused features such as Waking Up Wild.
This feels like travel advice from two experienced, slightly fearless friends who also happen to be great storytellers. The prose is plainspoken and pragmatic, the sample guide to arriving at JFK after a full day of travel reads like a checklist you can follow straight away, with small tactical tips that actually matter. The site leans into long, practical guides and adventure features, plus wildlife and photo-led pieces from Mike. They publish regularly, roughly three new posts a month, so there is a steady stream of fresh trip ideas, gear notes and destination how-tos.
