About Goats On The Road

Goats On The Road is a travel and lifestyle website founded by Canadians Nick Wharton and Dariece Swift. The couple began travelling in 2008 and launched the site in 2012; it has since grown into a larger team of professional contributors and lists more than 1,700 posts and pages in its sitemap. The site publishes roughly two posts a month and combines practical how-to guides on earning money online, remote work, house sitting and TEFL with long-form destination guides. Posts are illustrated with many original photos, and the site offers a free blogging course and a substantial ebook.

This is the blog that treats travel as a way of life rather than a hobby. The writing reads like frank advice from friends who turned location independence into a career: clear, structured and frequently first-person, with long, scannable guides (see the NYC boroughs piece with its table of contents and neighborhood breakdowns). Where the site really shines is at the intersection of travel and work, detailed digital-nomad resources, freelancing tips, TEFL and house-sitting advice, plus a free blogging course. They publish a couple of new, substantial guides each month and back many posts with their own photography, which makes the content both usable and personable.
