Trafalgar Falls is a pair of waterfalls on the slopes of Dominica’s central interior near the village of Laudat in Saint George Parish. It is one of the island’s most visited waterfall sites.
The site consists of two adjacent cascades that drop into river pools with a viewing platform and a marked trail that leads from the parking area to viewpoints and the riverbank. The trail is relatively short but can be steep in places and is frequently visited on day tours from nearby towns.
There is no single recorded construction history for the falls; they are natural volcanic and riverine features formed by the island’s geology. Over time the site has become a developed visitor spot with trails and viewpoints added for easier access.
The falls sit inland above Dominica’s windward side, on the slopes of the central massif near Laudat, within the island’s interior forested landscape.

How to Get to Trafalgar Falls #
Trafalgar Falls is inside Dominica’s interior near the village of Laudat and is commonly reached from Roseau. From Roseau take the inland road up toward Laudat (the drive is typically around 10-20 minutes depending on exact start point); there is parking near the falls and a short 5-10 minute walk along a path to the viewpoint and pools.
Many local tour operators and taxis run day trips from Roseau to Trafalgar Falls; public minibuses reach Laudat but timing can be irregular so taxis or tours are often more convenient.
Tips for Visiting Trafalgar Falls #
- Go early in the morning to Trafalgar Falls to avoid the cloud and steam that build up later in the day and to get clearer views from the main overlooks.
- Use the short, signposted trail from the parking area to the main viewpoints-the path is well used but becomes slippery after rain, so take care on wet sections and allow time to enjoy both the upper and lower viewpoints.
- Combine the stop with nearby short attractions in the same valley (small viewpoints and picnic areas) rather than treating it as a single quick photo-op-allowing 45-90 minutes lets you see both falls and the surrounding rainforest properly.
